| What are some of the benefits of therapy? |
From time to time, life presents challenges, distress, and opportunities to change and grow. Therapy is designed to help you find the resources to meet these challenges. The therapist will help you set appropriate goals and to direct your attention towards the interplay of behaviours, thoughts, and emotions which presently are impacting your life. |
| What are some of the risks of therapy? |
The type of therapy that is to be used is based on the client’s needs and the therapist’s experience. We base therapy on the theories and techniques of humanistic, experiential and cognitive behavioural therapies. There may be some risks to counselling; for example, if we choose to target the emotions by deepening the emotional experience. These experiences may initiate pain, but may ultimately help. Be assured that this is a very normal process. |
| Is therapy offered on the basis of a particular faith or religion? |
